Is an address in a hazard zone? Flood, fire and earthquake maps in Los Angeles
Government agencies publish maps of areas with higher natural hazard risk. You can check whether an address sits inside one before you book a stay, rent or buy. These maps are a starting point, not a prediction.
The zones that are mapped
- Flood. FEMA flood zones, including special flood hazard areas.
- Fire. CAL FIRE fire hazard severity zones.
- Earthquake fault. State Alquist-Priolo earthquake fault zones.
- Liquefaction. Areas where soil may lose strength in a strong earthquake.
- Landslide. Earthquake-induced landslide zones.
- Tsunami. Mapped tsunami inundation areas near the coast.
What the maps do not mean
Being outside a mapped zone does not mean no risk, because the State has not mapped every area. Being inside one does not mean a property will be damaged. Zone boundaries can also differ from lot lines. Ask an insurer or a licensed inspector before relying on any of this.
How Deedlore helps
Deedlore checks the point where a City of Los Angeles address sits against these maps and shows the result with the source and the date. It is a record check, not an inspection, and not a safety guarantee. Deedlore is not affiliated with Airbnb, Vrbo or any booking platform.

Common questions
Does Deedlore check the host?
No. Deedlore describes properties, not people. It does not show host names or run background checks.
Does a registered rental mean a safe stay?
No. A registration shows what the City has on file as of the date checked. It is not a finding that a stay will be safe or good.
Which addresses are covered?
Addresses in the City of Los Angeles only. Other cities, including Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, have their own rules.
